This is a 35-minute Haunted Trail along the banks of the Tyger River. Don't be deceived though, this trail is no ordinary trail but instead takes you through multiple staged areas including a haunted corn maze, slaughterhouse, killer clown zone, graveyard, and aviary.
Nightmare Hollow is definitely scary and at that place is quite a bit of blood and gore, but one reason why information technology makes the listing of good haunted attractions for big kids and tweens is because the staff is and so kind and sympathetic to the children (and parents) that are brave enough to give their attraction a try.
In fact, Bonehead the Clown (he actually even has his ain Facebook page) jump scared me while I was taking photos before we had entered the maze. When he realized that he had accidentally also terrified my daughter, he offered her a peppermint and assured her that he was nice. That's just one example of the kind of experience nosotros had at Haunted Hollow.
You can allow the staff know if you desire them to tone information technology down a flake for your child and you have a guide that tin can allow whatever fellow member of your party to walk effectually a part of the attraction that might be a chip as well intense.
This is a scary attraction and we recommend waiting until children are old plenty to understand that the actors are in costume and that the attractions are all staged.

Haunted Hayride (Big Child & Tween approved!)
by Kate Lupo
- For our 7 yr old son's first haunted experience, the Wompus Woods Haunted Hayride was pretty perfect. We waited in line for well-nigh 25 minutes – which, past the way, seems to exist the boilerplate amount of time 1 should expect for Halloween attraction. While we were waiting, a heads-upwardly that there were lots of loud noises, including a cannon that would go off every 15 minutes or and so to alert the scare actors that a new group was going through. The hayride itself was fun and hoaky. You lot board a big wagon with near 25 other people on board. A vocalization recording emanates out of the wagon speakers and tells the story of the Wompus Monster every bit you lot continue through the hayride, though it'due south sometimes hard to hear. The total length of the ride is about 20 minutes. Every bit you lot twist and turn through the beautiful dark woods, scare actors of all ages climb aboard the hayride (and in our case, were met with screams and laughter) and you experience fun special effects equally the railroad vehicle takes you through man-made tunnels covered in cobwebs and ghost figurines!
- Loud Noises: Yes, lots of loud noises. Bring earplugs! Without giving too much away, you will hear cannons and also… chainsaws!
- Visibility: The hayride begins only when the sun has fix, so while the woods are dark, there are a lot of Halloween lights that light the attraction throughout so it is not pitch blackness.
- Fire/Pyrotechnics: Yes, this ride features fire.
- Open or enclosed (tight spaces): While the hayride takes you lot through a few enclosed tunnels, they are only ever nigh 50 feet long, and then for the most function you are in the open up air of the woods and in that location are no cramped spaces.
- Claret and Gore: There is non much claret and gore on this ride, but some scare actor masks and props appear bloody.
- Surprising special furnishings? Strobe lights (beingness mindful for kids with disabilities)? Aside from the cannons diggings and the short pyrotechnics, this ride does not feature many surprising special effects or strobe lighting.
- Quality of scare actors: Low-mid level. As mentioned above, all the scare actors at Wompus Woods are volunteers, and many of them are immature adults also. You will appreciate their dedication to entertaining yous, but it's easy to tell that they are not professional scare actors, which is good news for those of us with young kids.
